To ensure the best fit for your pet’s accessories, follow our simple guide for measuring. Most of our accessories only require your pet’s neck circumference, but there are a few exceptions that require additional measurements. We’ve broken down the key details to help you select the perfect size!
A person is meticulously using a measuring tape to create a sizing guide for the white dog, adorned with a blue collar. Capturing the side profile, they focus intently on precision while the softly blurred background adds a gentle ambiance.
A person in a red sweater uses a sizing guide to measure a tabby cats neck with a measuring tape. The cat sits calmly, sporting a slightly displeased expression, while the softly blurred background highlights their interaction.
General Measuring Tips
Neck Circumference: Use a soft measuring tape to measure around the thickest part of your pet’s neck. Leave a small gap (around 1-2 fingers) for comfort, but not too loose. This measurement works for most of our collars, including adjustable ones.
Head Circumference (for Beaded Necklace Collars): Some of our Beaded Necklace Collars do not have a clasp and are designed to slip over your pet’s head. For these, it’s important to measure the largest part of your pet’s head (typically around the base of the ears) to avoid any discomfort when putting on or taking off the collar.
Little dogs or cats (Ensure they are tall enough to avoid tripping on the bowtie tails)
Large
5.5″ wide, 6.5″ tail length
Medium to large dog breeds
Important Note for Little Dogs or Cats: When choosing the Small Sailor Bowtie for little dogs or cats, make sure your pet is tall enough so that they don’t trip over the bowtie’s tails. Measure from the ground to where the collar would sit on your pet to ensure they have enough height to wear it comfortably.
Use a flexible measuring tape – This will ensure you get the most accurate measurement, especially for curved areas like the neck and head.
Measure multiple times – If in doubt, measure your pet a couple of times to ensure consistency.
Don’t forget comfort – Accessories should fit snugly, but not too tight. You should be able to slip two fingers comfortably under the accessory.
